Shiver me timbers! Multisol, Zenteum and Brenntag raise pieces of eight for local charities!

Members of the Daresbury office, including colleagues from Multisol, Zenteum and Brenntag helped to raise over £2,300 for the Claire House Children's Hospice and for the Severn Hospice when they took part in a Charity Raft Race on the River Severn.

Organised by Multisol UK customer, Morris Lubricants, the event took place in June 2013 along the river Severn between Bicton and Shrewsbury. Andy Lamb, Multisol Key Accounts Manager, led a team of eager volunteers who gave up their spare time and expertise to help design, construct, equip and then row the raft over the five mile course.

During the run up to the event, a number of 'cake sails' were held to help bolster our fundraising efforts and to promote the event.  Colleagues and their partners were encouraged to donate various cakes and pastries.

The 'MS 8 into Severn’ completed the race in a very respectable 3rd place overall; the first of the homemade rafts! The name was chosen by Nick Burrows who won the name the raft competition.

Special thanks to the support crew including: Ruth Wales, Neil Cook, Darren Copson, Bob Mears and Steve Dunne.  Also a big thank you to all colleagues who sponsored the team and attended the race, lining the bridges and river banks cheering the rafters along!

The current total of JustGiving donations stands at over £3,000, within the top 5% of money raised via world’s leading online platform for charity giving during 2013.
