Standard methods for the production of base oils use solvent extraction processes to remove impurities and a subsequent chilling process to remove the fluids wax content.

Chevron have pioneered modern hydrocracking technology and their proprietary ISODEWAXING® catalyst reshapes wax molecules and other impurities into high-quality base oil molecules rather than breaking them down into by-products as with conventional processing.

Not only does this result in chemically pure, clear products with outstanding performance characteristics; but a process route that does not require additional solvent extraction processing.

With engine oil specifications tightening, Chevron’s Group II/II+ base oils will enable lubricant marketers in Europe to meet the demanding standards and lower emissions requirements of top-tier lubricant formulations such as lower volatility, lighter viscosity grades, and low SAPS values (sulphated ash, phosphorus, sulphur).
